Supramolecular Chemistry is the chemistry of the intermolecular bond, covering the structures and functions of the entities formed by the association of two or more chemical species. Supramolecular Chemistry has found application in many industries including pharmaceutical industry where it is used to improve the physicochemical characteristics of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). The use of cocrystals and macrocycles such as cyclodextrin has gained popularity in modification of pharmaceuticals to improve on their physicochemical properties, particularly solubility.
